Sustainability took center stage during the PHILCONSTRUCT Visayas Technoforum 2024 as PGBI joined once again for its hybrid seminar last June 21, 2024, at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, Lahug, Cebu.
The seminar session started with the presentation from Ar. Maria Lourdes Onozawa entitled, "How to Build on Planet Earth," where the discussion focused on the utilization of Community Local Resource Mapping Workshop aimed at engaging various stakeholders, including barangay representatives and community members, to identify local aspirations and resources. It also includes a structured schedule for the workshop, which includes activities like aspiration workshops, resource mapping, and action planning. The goal is to connect community needs with project development, ensuring inclusivity and addressing the aspirations of local residents.
The second speaker, Engr. Vicente Vosotros, then presented his lecture called, "Developer's Best Planning Tools for Project Sustainability," outlines crucial tools and strategies for ensuring sustainable project development. It emphasizes the importance of due diligence in assessing project requirements and compliance with various local and national regulatory agencies.
The seminar drew active participation from all of the attendees, reflecting the growing interest in the sustainable design and development across the building industry. Grounded in real-world experience and forward-thinking ideas, the event helped reinforce the importance of integrating sustainability into design and construction practices at every level.
