The Philippines's unique climate conditions make it challenge to design, implement, and commission a green building to fit intricacies of the local environment. This highlights the importance of developing a localised green building rating system that does not merely adapt matrices from the other countries. PGBI recognised this need and developed its GREEEN Rating System specifically applicable for our country, which is the result of collaborative efforts to produce standards and guidelines in order to help guide and edicate industry professionals.

GREEEN, short of Geared for Resiliency and Energy Efficiency for the ENvironment is a total effort of the Philiuppine Green Building Initiative, Inc., (PGBI).

GREEEN was initially developed by the technical committees of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating Engineers (PSVARE) and the United Architects of the Philippines.

GREEEN is a Green Building Rating System that will provide a voluntary, code-based, environment-responsive set of criteria to evaluate buildings that are newly constructed and undergoing major renovations.

GREEEN is a collection of associated documnents and tools which aid desingers in developing and achieving greeen building goals.

GREEEN aims for resiliency, energy-efficiency, occupant well-being, environmental performance and ecomonic returns of buildings using established and innovative practices, standards and technologies through its use as a set of design guidelines.
